Science Unit

Collection Management

It is an area dedicated to the care of the germplasm bank and the propagation of species listed in NOM 059 SEMARNAT 2010. The inspiring and largely responsible for integrating the botanical collection was the well-known cactophile Charles Glass, curator of the plant collection during the initial years of the Botanical Garden.

Herbarium

Special enclosure where plant samples are protected and classified, as an information center for the knowledge and conservation of plant diversity. The herbarium of the Botanical Garden was officially accredited as a scientific collection in 2019. It bears the name of the prominent botanist Walter L. Meagher, in recognition of his contribution to the study of the flora of El Charco del Ingenio.
