BROMELIACEAE

Of this family, the genus Hechtia, commonly known as guapillas.

These plants have very thorny rosettes with thick leaves where they store water, and they come from arid and semi-arid areas of the country. The collection also includes some species of the genus tillandsia, epiphytic plants that, unlike parasitic plants, absorb water and nutrients from the air through scales on their leaves.
