Last April, within the framework of the anniversary of the Institute of Biology of the National University (UNAM) in Mexico City, representatives of Mexican botanical gardens remembered this extraordinary woman, pioneer of modern Biology. Helia Bravo Hollis (1901-2001) was the first certified Mexican biologist, founder of the UNAM Botanical Garden and the Mexican Society of Cactology, and the first to carry out taxonomic studies of Mexican cacti, which transcend to the present day and beyond our borders.

Those were the days when we were about to inaugurate the Botanical Garden, under the auspices of the civil association Cante, on a hillside of the extraordinary natural and historical monument known as El Charco del Ingenio.

A partir del 8 de enero de 2024, el boleto de acceso general al Jardín Botánico tendrá un costo de 80 pesos, con un descuento especial para estudiantes, maestros con credencial vigente y adultos mayores (con credencial del INAPAM), cuya tarifa en adelante será de 40 pesos. Y se mantendrán desde luego el acceso gratuito para los menores de 10 años, así como, los miércoles y los domingos, para los habitantes de San Miguel (con credencial del INE).
